MTV Geek Interview!
Hey, everyone, I just wanted to let you know about an interview I did with Sean Kleefeld at MTVGeek. Sean and I discussed all things “Velia, Dear” including how the web comic differs with “Tina’s Groove”, “Six Chix” and my gag cartoons. We talked about process, and all that nitty gritty stuff that I know the geek in you loves. (If you don’t have a geek inside you, then I suggest you go out and find one because being a geek is fun.) Anyway, here’s the link: MTV Geek Interview…. thanks for taking a look!

Hi Rina. I’m familiar with a church basement that seems close to hell. I used to attend a large (pews for 700-800) church in Pittsburgh that had been built in 1850 and weathered all the sooty years when Pittsburgh was described as hell with the lid off. The church had a spooky and unfinished basement crypt under the whole building, filled with coal and slag and dirt piles and dusty old furniture, and surely ghosts. There was an ancient coal furnace there that the janitor or someone had to shovel coal into by hand to keep the place warm. It was definitely scary and spooky down there, and ir felt like hell was maybe 12 or 20 more feet down.
Since I last worshipped there in 1960, the congregation moved away. The church building was sold to a local Catholic University and torn down to make way for (ironically) a beautiful new classroom and lab building where biological science are taught.
When I drive by nowadays, I rejoice in the new building, and that the Church is teaching biology there. I just hope they’re doing it right.
Whoops! “Mortar” is misspelled in this.
Yikes! I goofed! ughhh….
Bill — that’s amazing. I knew there was truth out there stranger than fiction!
