Dismay! Wow, that’s bad news. But they took her to a good place. St. Michaels in Toronto is a leading teaching and research hospital. Among their specialties are neuron function and lesions of the amygdala.
Seriously, I have no idea what St. Michael’s specialties are, but it’s for real, and they should be able to take good care of ma.
Bill. I don’t know about that. When my mother was in nursing training there in the 1940′s, the student nurses would wait 5 seconds after turning the lights on in a room to let the cockroaches scuttle for cover.
Bob, Sorry, I didn’t know about that. They didn’t have good insecticides till after WWII. But if Ma is in a state of Dismay, with a damaged amygdala, she probably won/t notice a roach or two (or three.)
I’d love to know the treatment code for catatonic dismay, I also wonder if you can get that treated in province in Saskatchewan? I wouldn’t be surprised if it is in the new DSM IV though.
At least Ma seems to have a reasonably peaceful countenance. One could imagine her with a twisted, horrified scowl after the impact she received when Velia told her what she and Ben had been doing at church. Assuming Ma recovers, I wonder if there will be lasting effects?

“What on Earth did you say to her?” Hahahaha!

Is Velia’s Mom going to be the web comic equivalent of Peter Parker’s Aunt May? Super fragile?
