Velia, Dear

About Today’s Strip…

This gag line about the g-spot has finally found it’s home in “Velia, Dear.”  Let me explain.  When I wrote it many years ago, I innocently tried to use it for my syndicated panel “Six Chix.” I should have known that the line is a little too racy for the newspaper comics page; my editor nixed it.  Not wanting to let go of what I think is a funny line, I tried to sell it to different markets, and failed.  I then filed the idea away in my workbook (a kind of Idea Purgatory) to await a time in the future when I would perhaps find a place where I could use it.  Enter “Velia, Dear”, and voila — a funny line finds an audience.
